Comments - Dramatic battle scene from the Taiheiki of Iwakura Castle along the edge of the water engulfed in flames, under siege by the forces of Oda Nobunaga. Gusts of smoke and flames rise from the extensive complex, sweeping across the sky. Warriors rush out the entrance gate and down the stone steps to join the fight in the foreground. At right, two samurai on horseback clash pole arms as two retainers bearing fluttering banners flank them. Troops are massed behind wooden shields at right, while at left, a young warrior on horseback faces multiple opponents on foot, swinging his sword with one hand. A fantastic image with wonderful detail in the setting and fine bokashi shading.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three attached panels. Paper remnants on reverse at top edge from previous mounting. Small loss, a few holes and thinning spots, repaired. Creasing, wrinkling, slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details.
