Series; Thirty-six Selected Flowers in Full Bloom: Their Own Calligraphy
Koine and Beauty of the Inamoto-ro, 1869 - Charming scene of the beauty Koine and a fellow courtesan of the Inamoto-ro pausing to chat at the top of a staircase. The woman on the right wears a kimono patterned with red and white bands and oversize blossoms over a red under robe, tied with a geometric print obi. Her companion's red outer kimono features a large fish. At upper left, a young kamuro or child apprentice smiles as she looks over the black lacquer railing. An attractive design, nicely colored and detailed, also in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
