Mitsuuji at a Garden Gate, 1862

Comments - Lovely scene from the tale of Mitsuuji, the Country Genji, standing outside a garden gate reading a letter. He looks up from the long message with a frown as a kamuro or courtesan's child apprentice tugs on his hand, pulling him toward the garden gate where a beauty waits for him. An attractive design with the blossoming plum tree framing the night sky. Include faint embossing on the letter and white kimono trim.

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 18 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. Paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Small hole, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
