Illustrated Tang Poems of Seven-syllable Lines - Handsome, complete Volume 5 from Hokusai's five-volumes series "Illustrated Tang Poems of Seven-syllable Lines" (Ehon Toshisen shichigonritsu). Published in 1836, these prints illustrate famous Chinese poems. Hokusai's black and white woodblocks are beautifully detailed, creating lyrical and evocative settings. Hokusai illustrated more than 250 books in his lifetime, and these interesting scenes display his masterful compositions and skillful draftsmanship. Volume 5 includes 12 woodblocks, comprised of 6 diptychs. It has a paper cover and traditional stab binding. A rarely seen series and a nice opportunity to collect an original Hokusai book.
