Original Edo era Japanese Woodblock Print
Courtesan and Kamuro in the Yoshiwara

Comments - Attractive portrait of a courtesan and her kamuro or child apprentice enjoying an evening stroll through the Yoshiwara. The beauty wears a blue outer kimono with a striking design of a peacock and peony blossoms over red under robes, tied with a black floral obi. The girl peers around her back, dressed in a matching kimono. Flowering cherry trees frame the night sky above. A charming design.
