Famous Geisha Dance at the Shintomiza, 1883

Comments - Terrific scene of geisha performing a dance at the Shintomiza or Shintomi Theater. Dressed in matching kimono, the beauties strike poses as they move along the raised walkways leading to the stage, where musicians accompany them on shamisen and koto. Spectators crowd the boxes on the floor and the balconies on the sides. A lively image with wonderful architectural detail in the setting.
