Fuji Arts’ Winter Yoshitoshi Senso-e Exhibition

New Documents from Kagoshima: Saigo's Inspection of Mt. Hanaoka, 1877 - Intriguing scene of the rebel commander Saigo Takamori at Mt. Hanaoka, standing on a rocky outcropping as he surveys the battle below. He holds a red leash attached to a dog that darts about his feet. At right, Kirino Toshiaki sits on a red lacquer chair, gesturing with his fan as he gives instructions to a retainer. At left, a shell explodes in a burst of flames and smoke against the night sky. The first time we've offered this rare Yoshitoshi triptych.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 28 3/4" + margin as shown

Condition - Finely printed with sharp, crisp detail. From a well preserved, almost untouched collection of Yoshitoshi senso-e. Not backed, three separate prints. Nice surface condition, smooth and not rubbed. Small losses at edges, hole, repaired. Overall very good.
