Great Drill of the Three French and English Armies, 1867

Comments - Interesting scene of French and English armies conducting maneuvers on a large field. In the foreground at left, a group of English soldiers rush forward on horseback, dressed in red jackets and helmets topped with plumes. At bottom center, infantrymen in blue uniforms practice taking aim with their guns as a general thrusts his sword high and a bugler sounds the call. Dressed in blue uniforms, the French soldiers at right include foot soldiers and cavalrymen, with clouds of smoke drifting across the darkening sky and a shell exploding on the horizon. Nicely detailed with fine bokashi shading.
