Comments - Handsome scene of courtesans and beauties outside the entrance to a teahouse. At center right, a beauty smiles down at a crouching man looking up with a puzzled grin. Her two kamuro or child apprentices stand beside her, one giggling into the sleeve of her phoenix print kimono. At left, another young girl tugs on a man's sleeve as he holds up a battledore with a portrait of a kabuki actor on it. At far right, a servant balances a low red lacquer table of food atop his head. Cherry trees bloom in the courtyard garden, and a patron and beauties can be seen in a window at upper right. An attractive design with wonderful detail in the setting and fine embossing on the white kimono collars and trim and the cherry blossoms.
