Kataoka Nizaemon VIII as Rai Kunitoshi, 1858

Comments - Interesting scene from the kabuki play "Date Moyo Somete Kisaragi" of Kataoka Nizaemon VIII as Rai Kunitoshi, kneeling on the floor of a bathhouse. He tilts his head to the side with a worried expression as he pushes up the sleeve of his robe, a towel in his other hand. A circular inset features Onoe Waichi II as Dankuro, grimacing with rage. Steam from the bath drifts across the room above and out the open window. Nice expressive figures in an interesting setting.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 7/8"
