Nobleman and Matron, 1896

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of Ichikawa Danjuro as a matron, gesturing towards a young girl with her fan. She frowns as she looks back at the nobleman at right, who stares back at her. He wears an elegant coat patterned with paulownia and trimmed with a purple brocade pleated collar over a white kimono. At left, the girl and another young woman watch the scene, one with leaning forward with a concerned expression while the other smiles slightly. Nice large figures, beautifully detailed with extensive embossing on the white kimono and white kimono collars, and a dusting of mica across the background.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 28 1/4" + margins as shown
