Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Climbing a Mountain

Comments - Intriguing Meiji era image of people climbing what may be a man-made mountain, with a path spiraling around the rugged hill up to a lookout with flags and a weathervane on top. Water cascades over the side at right, and a crowd gathers near a stone marker with writing on it at the base. Interestingly, the people include two foreign women wearing bustled skirts and bonnets, and men in overcoats and hats. A fascinating subject.
