Spring, 1857 - Charming scene of a young girl and a beauty in an interior, the girl preparing to write or draw on a large roll of paper in her hand. She sits on a cushion, holding a brush in her other hand, smiling as she looks up. Her companion kneels on the floor beside her as she mixes ink on an ink stone. At lower right, a circular brazier with an ocean scene on it holds glowing red coals. Window behind them open onto a garden at night with a large pond. An attractive design with nice detail in the setting and furnishings. Includes light embossing on the white kimono collars and trim.
