Comments - Terrific image of the great warrior Kato Kiyomasa, here referred to as Takeshiuchi no Sukune to evade censorship, sailing to Korea. A distinguished leader, Kiyomasa was one of the three senior commanders during the Seven-Year War with Korea. He stands in the prow of his ship keeping a lookout as they approach land, his men sitting behind him in full armor, ready for battle. Waves crash against the side of the boat and banners flutter in the breeze. A fantastic samurai design with a bold composition and beautiful detail. The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, has this image in its collection.
