Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Shinsen Taikoki), 1883

Katagiri Sukesaku and Yashuhiko Goemon, 1883 - Terrific, dramatic illustration by Toyonobu depicting Katagiri Sukesaku and Yashuhiku Goemon locked in fierce combat. One charges ahead on his horse with his spear thrust out before him, a determined expression on his face. His opponent counters the blow with the handle of his weapon, the blade breaking as it strikes a rock below. Behind them, another pair of warriors duels, the rider knocking loose his enemy's spear. A great subject for a collector interested in the samurai tradition.
