The Death of Kusunoki Masatsura

Comments - Fantastic depiction of three dying samurai caught in a hail of arrows flying across the night sky at the Battle of Shijonawate in 1348. The face of each samurai is shaded blue, a sign of his impending death. In the center, Kusunoki Masatsura rushes forward with his spear, his face stained with blood and broken arrows protruding from his armor. The warrior at right leans heavily on his sword, his armor tattered and blood flowing from his head. A dramatic depiction of battle, with expressive figures and fine detail.
