The Great Battle between Kai Province and Echigo Province at Kawanakajima, 1852

Comments - Dramatic depiction of the Battle of Kawanakajima between the forces of Takeda Shingen of Kai Province and Uesugi Kenshin of Echigo Province. At right, a samurai on horseback takes an arrow to the chest as he horse rears. An enemy on a brown horse gallops past raising his sword in the air. At left, Takeda Shingen looks weary astride his horse, his sashimono or personal standard bent over his head, the fabric tattered and shredded. Clouds of smoke obscure the battlefield behind him against the night. A striking design, handsomely composed.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 29" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight thinning at edges, tear at edge, small loss at corner, a couple small holes, repaired. Slight creasing and rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
