Man about to Commit Suicide

Comments - Unusual kabuki scene of a man about to commit suicide, holding a knife wrapped in cloth against his bared stomach. The fellow at left reacts with alarm, a horrified expression on his face as he throws his hand out in a stopping gesture. At right, a samurai gripping a sword looks on with a grimace. Rippling water runs across the top of the design, adding a striking graphic element. Nice large expressive figures, with fine line work on the hair and soft bokashi shading in the background.

Artist - Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28 1/8"
