Series; Snow, Moon, and Flowers

That Familiar Figure with Flowers and Moon, 1855 - Handsome scene of Prince Genji and beauties gathering for an evening of entertainment in a mansion built out over the water. In the center, women on a wooden walkway bow as they greet the nobleman, a matron leading the way with a lantern and a page carrying his sword following behind. The silhouettes of figures can be seen on the shoji windows, with a child peering around a sliding panel at top center, a dog with a ruffled collar at her side. At upper left, a beauty in a red floral kimono giggles shyly into her kimono sleeve. Pines and blossoming cherry trees frame the scene, with mandarin ducks swimming on the undulating water below. A wonderfully detailed setting.
