Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of the courtesan Orie in conversation with a man named Gennosuke. The beauty sits on a wooden bench, smiling up at her companion as she tucks one hand inside her patchwork kimono trimmed with purple. Gennosuke, portrayed by Sawamura Tossho II, eyes her strangely, grimacing a bit as he grips a rope tossed around his neck. He wears a purple and white checked robe trimmed with black inserts and brown plaid, tied with a blue obi. A short bamboo pole is stuck into his sash, and his hair is a bit disheveled with loose wisps hanging out. The red background is topped with a purple band with birds flying across it and large circular motif in the center, adding graphic impact. A handsome design with vibrant color and fine detail in the hair.
