Prince Genji and Beauty in Springtime, 1865

Comments - Charming scene of Prince Genji and his companions inside a room opening onto a verandah in springtime. The nobleman smiles happily as he looks up, a sword in one hand and his sleeve held to his chest. Gently touching his sleeve, the young girl at his side wears a blue violet kimono patterned with chrysanthemums. The beauty kneeling at left has a coat that matches Genji's kimono draped over her shoulder, and another elegant robe hangs over a stand behind her. Blossoming cherry trees frame a view of the blue sky beyond. An attractive design, nicely detailed with embossing on the shit areas of the kimono and coat.
