Hakitome Omatsu, 1861 - Charming portrait of the courtesan Hakitome Omatsu kneeling beside a black lacquer makeup chest topped with a mirror. She smiles happily as she looks over her shoulder, wearing a blue patterned kimono with red tie-dyed insets at the shoulders, over a red under robe tied with red print sash. Her hair is pulled back into a simple bun with a few hairpins and a blue ribbon, a small comb slipping loose at the side. A toothbrush rests across a blue and white porcelain bowl of water on the floor behind her. An attractive subject, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 3/4"
