Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Samurai with a Poem Slip, 1876

Comments - Interesting scene of a samurai holding out a poem slip in one hand as he kneels beside an offering tray. He wears armor and a black court cap, along with a sleeve protector on one arm. An attendant waits behind him, a bow in hand. A text panel runs across the top of the page, with a drapery at upper left featuring a chrysanthemum crest. Nicely detailed.

Artist - Meiji era artist (unsigned)

Image Size - 13 3/8" x 9" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Small tear at corner, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
