Series; The Glories of the Provinces of Japan

The Glories of the Provinces of Japan - Handsome design from a Toyokuni III series pairing kabuki portraits with the provinces of Japan. Each print features an expressive figure with a smaller inset of a landscape or another role from the same play. Ranging from beauties and heroes to villains, subjects include characters from some of the most popular kabuki dramas, including Benkei, Sukeroku, Yuranosuke, and the Soga Brothers. Some include deluxe treatments such as embossing, burnishing, or fine bokashi shading. A nicely detailed and rarely seen kabuki series.
