Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Shinsen Taikoki), 1883

Nobunaga Striking Mitsuhide, 1883 - Intriguing scene of the great warrior Oda Nobunaga beating the samurai Akechi Mitsuhide with his fan, his face contorted with rage. The victim kneels unhappily to receive the blows, his tall black court cap on the ground before him. Several samurai sit around the margins of the room, watching soberly. Beautifully detailed with a subtle burnished geometric design on Nobunaga's olive colored robe. A fascinating design, nicely composed with the purple drapery echoing the diagonal across the floor at lower right.
