Happy Togetherness of Umegawa and Chubei

Series; Eight Pledges at Lovers' Meetings

Happy Togetherness of Umegawa and Chubei - Terrific Utamaro design of the young lovers, the beautiful courtesan Umegawa and Chubei, who works for a firm of couriers. The pair is shown under an umbrella as they make their escape to Chubei's native village. The beauty has a sheer black silk cloth wrapped around her head and pinned to her hair for traveling. The round inset at upper left shows a view of Lake Biwa. A charming scene with a soft color palette enhanced with touches of black.

Image Size - 14" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown
