Comments - Terrific depiction of the great daimyo Takeda Shingen and his trusted "Twenty-four Generals" during the war between Kai and Echigo provinces, which included several battles at Kawanakjima. Takeda sits in an alcove at upper right, his horned helmet with flowing white wig on a stand behind him. The warriors are seated around the room, exchanging angry glances as they discuss strategy perhaps. At bottom center, a compass rests on the floor before a samurai wearing a voluminous blue and white kamishimo over his armor. Sliding panels at the back of the room are decorated with lions in a rocky landscape amidst peonies. Wonderful detail in the armor and expressive faces. A great samurai subject, beautifully detailed with burnishing on the black lacquer trim at right.
