Courtesans on a Verandah

Comments - Terrific Edo era triptych depicting three courtesans on a verandah overlooking a busy river. The beauty in the center wears a blue and white striped kimono bordered with pink blossoms and large green leaves. Each has her hair elegantly arranged with many tortoiseshell combs and hairpins. The water behind them is crowded with pleasure boats and smaller crafts, the view framed by tall pine trees. A handsome subject, nicely detailed and colored.

Artist - Kunitomi (active circa 1804 - 1844)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 29 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Vertical fold at side of each panel. Wormholes, repaired. Slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details.
