Restraining a Nobleman

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a samurai attempting to restrain an angry nobleman, holding his hand out in a stopping motion. The nobleman raises his fan above his head, ready to strike. He wears a striking red coat patterned with a lion and a peony blossom, trimmed with a pleated collar and worn over a white kimono. His companion wears a kamishimo with a clematis print over a black kimono with a brown paulownia inset. The large colorful figures are nicely set off by the deep blue background. A handsome design.

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 18 5/8"
