Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
The Echigoya at New Year, 1830s

Comments - Charming scene of a beauty standing outside the Echigoya clothing store at New Year. She smiles happily as she looks over her shoulder, wearing a brown kimono trimmed with a blue green print border and tied with a darker brown brocade obi, a blue hood wrapped around her head against the cool air. Blue curtains with the shop's circular white crest hang in front of the doorways, with sacred shimenawa ropes hanging from the eaves and traditional pine and bamboo holiday decorations flanking an entrance at right. A lovely design, nicely composed and detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Small tear at edge, slight thinning at corners. Creasing, slight toning and soiling, slight rubbing at edges, a few marks. Please see photos for details.
