Courtesans in an Iris Garden

Comments - Lovely scene of three courtesans and their young kamuro or child apprentices visiting an iris garden. The beauty at right wears a striking kimono with a design of a carp leaping up a waterfall beneath wisteria blossoms. At left, the woman's obi features a rooster perched atop a drum covered with ivy, a traditional symbol of wise rule. Her outer kimono is covered with almost three-dimensional clusters of flowers with ribbons trailing from them. The background is filled with magnificent oversize irises in shades of blue, purple, and white. A terrific image with vibrant color and embossed detail on the white kimono collars
