A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Scene from Takagi Oriemon Budo Jitsuroku, 1848 - Handsome scene from the kabuki play "Takagi Oriemon Budo Jitsuroku" featuring Nakamura Utaemon IV as the samurai Takagi Oriemon and Onoe Kikujiro II as his wife, Umenoi. The warrior has a baby tucked inside the front of his robe, and he holds an iron club and a man sprawls on the ground beside him. His wife backs away from him, throwing her hand out defensively. A fire of pine branches blazes in between them, and a block and mallets for fulling cloth can be seen on the bamboo porch behind them. An interesting setting.
