Onoe Kikugoro

Natori Shunsen - Considered one of the best designers of shin-hanga kabuki prints, Natori Shunsen began his career as a newspaper illustrator. He began creating actor prints in 1915, and the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo saw his work on display in 1916, leading to a collaboration between the pair. Shunsen designed primarily okubi-e or large head portraits, creating vibrant and expressive figures that captured the intensity and emotion of the actors he portrayed. His memorable works are highly collectible and are a great choice for a collector interested in shin-hanga kabuki.
