Comments - Handsome triptych showing a gathering of the ladies-in-waiting at the Meiji Imperial Palace. They are seated around a table covered with a floral cloth, preparing linen and bandages for the Imperial Army during the Satsuma Rebellion. The women smile and talk excitedly as the empress arrives at right, bringing news of a rumored Meiji victory over the rebellious samurai. Wonderful detail in the elegant household furnishings and fine embossing on the white kimono. An attractive design.
