Gathering of Yamabushi

Series; Eighteen Honorable Men and Deeds, 1899

Gathering of Yamabushi - Intriguing scene of an elderly woman standing with her two young charges outside the doorway where a group of yamabushi or mountain priests are gathering. They wear traditional dress, including sashes adorned with pompoms and tiny black caps. The men look very serious and sober as the children wait quietly outside, the woman protectively extending her arms around them. A beautifully detailed subject with delicate embossing on the white robes and the boy's pants, and touches of silver mica accenting the sashes.

Artist - Toshihide (1863 - 1925)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 18 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two attached panels. Vertical fold between panels. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
