Plum Blossom, circa 1865 - Interesting depicting a beauty playing the shamisen while as samurai dances about, striking a pose with a folding fan in his extended hand. Beside the woman, a fellow laughs as he looks down at an open book. At lower left, a servant holding a candle on a long stick provides a light for the performer, although he too, is bursting with laughter. Text fills the background of both pages. Nice expressive figures.
