Kabuki Characters with Cat Monster

Comments - Terrific Chikanobu triptych showing a group of kabuki actors in character, each carefully identified with name cartouches and a banzuke or list across the top. A cat monster or witch appears at right carrying a lantern with her clawed paw, with pointed ears protruding from a mane of flowing white fur. At top center, a man in a yellow kimono patterned with red flames and swirling black clouds waves a maple branch. To the left, the evil magician Nikki Danjo grips a scroll between his teeth, clasping his hands together as he casts a spell. A great design with lively color, beautiful embossing on the cat's fur, and fine detail in the faces and hairstyles.
