Bando Hikosaburo V as Torii Matazaemon, 1868 - Great kabuki portrait of Bando Hikosaburo V as the samurai Torii Matazaemon, looking up with an angry, tight-lipped frown, his hands resting atop a bamboo pole. He wears a blue and green banded cloak over a white kimono with a bold blue pattern, his two swords at his side and his hair pulled back into a bushy ponytail. What looks like a globe can be seen at lower right. Nicely detailed with embossing on the hilt of one sword, and fine bokashi shading in the night sky.
