From an untitled triptych series of the Six Jewel Rivers

The Plover Jewel River in Mutsu Province, 1847 - 1848 - Lovely Kuniyoshi triptych depicting three beauties along the Plover or Chidori Jewel River in Mutsu Province. The women are collecting seawater for processing into salt, the pails suspended from yokes over their shoulder. The beauty at right pauses to smoke a pipe as she waits for her companion to wring the water from her red under robe, the wind blowing her straw apron about her. A line of plovers takes flight above the gently rippling water, fluttering off into the distance as a rosy glow spreads above the horizon. A beautiful design with wonderful detail. A great Kuniyoshi design.
