Woodblocks by Toshijiro (Nenjiro) Inagaki - Interesting modern design printed from a single woodblock. Toshijiro (or Nenjiro) Inagaki was an acclaimed kimono designer who was designated an Intangible Cultural Property in 1962, the highest honor awarded to Japanese artists by the government. In the 1950s - 1960s, he designed a small group of woodblock prints published by Mikumo in Kyoto. These stylized designs reflect the stencil-dyed techniques he used to create textiles, featuring bold geometric shapes. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has several prints by Inagaki in its collection. This print has a paper label on the reverse from Mikumo Ishihara Co.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Tape remnants on reverse at corners from previous mounting. A few creases at edges, stains at top corners. Please see photos for details.
