View of Konpiragu Shrine and Hollyhock Slope, 1853 - Interesting looking out over the rooftop of Konpiragu Shrine at the moat around Edo Castle, with Aoi or Hollyhock Slope leading up the left edge of the page. At top center, water cascades over the edge of the castle embankment, creating a dramatic focal point. The street in the foreground is busy with shoppers and travelers, with vendors displaying their wares in stalls along the edge of the road. Banners jut up above the rooftop at the bottom of a page, where the tip of a torii gate can be seen at lower right. An interesting subject, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
