Comments - Fantastic scene of the Shogun Yoritomo's famous hunt taking place at the foot of Mt. Fuji in 1193. In the center, the samurai Wada Heida stabs a bear with his spear as he gallops past on a black horse. At left, Nitta Shiro Tadatsune wrestles an enormous wild boar onto its back, grabbing its hind legs with both hands, his unsheathed sword between his teeth. At right the Shogun and his attendants watch the proceedings from a pavilion from atop a low hill. The snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji rises above pink and blue clouds to dominate the horizon. A fascinating depiction of the legendary tale.
