September: Kanda Myojin Festival Prayers - Handsome view of women relaxing on a verandah during the Kanda Myojin Shrine Festival. The beauties are dressed for the festival procession, the woman at left wearing exotic robes trimmed with colorful rows of ruffles. A wig adorned with a fancy beaded headdress rests on the floor before her. The beauty at right wears a blue robe with a bold tie-dyed pattern, a straw apron tied around her waist and her hair flowing loosely over her shoulders. The boy sitting at their feet munches happily on a snack from a nearby paper filled with treats. Large paper lanterns hang from the eaves, and the rooftops of the city spread out below under the evening sky. A charming subject with wonderful detail, from a very rare Hiroshige series.
