Beauty with Begonia

Series; Beauties and Seven Flowers

Beauty with Begonia - Handsome image of a beauty carrying an offering tray from a series pairing oversize flowers with Imperial court beauties. She smiles as she looks ahead, wearing fashionable two-tone lipstick and "moth's wing" eyebrows. Her hair is pulled back into a long ponytail bound with purple silk at the end and tied with a tasseled cord. Her kimono features an intricate geometric pattern in pale blue, with a flash of a red under robe at the sleeves. Softly shaded pink begonia blossoms and deep green leaves create a striking backdrop against a brightly colored sky. An attractive design.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Some slight creasing at edges. Pinholes at upper corners, repaired. A small stain. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
