Sumo Wrestler Grabbing a Man by the Arm, 1864

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a sumo wrestler grabbing a man by the arm and neck, gripping his wrist as he forces the fellow to the ground. Oddly, the man has two sticks with what look like eyeballs on them sticking out of the corners of his mouth. The wrestler wears a boldly patterned kimono with a furry black collar, his hair pulled back into a thick topknot. Behind him, a design of ropes against a green background adds graphic impact. An intriguing subject.
