Yorimitsu Tries to Capture Hakamadare by Destroying His Magic, 1858 - Incredible image from the story of Minamoto no Yorimitsu and the magician Hakamadare Yasumasa from the epic tale "The Taiheiki." Minamoto no Yorimitsu and his retainers were traveling through Yakeyama when they encountered a giant serpent conjured up by Hakamadare. Here, a black dog races along the snake's body as it opens its mouth wide, its tongue flickering out. A striking image with wonderful detail in the snake's scales.

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 1/4" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Horizontal and vertical folds. Slight separation and thinning along vertical fold, loss at edge, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and rubbing, a few creases, stains. Please see photos for details.
