Bando Mitsugoro VI as Kogakure no Kiritaro, 1862 - Terrific portrait of the kabuki actor Bando Mitsugoro VI as Kogakure no Kiritaro. The young man looks over his shoulder with a sideways glance, the ends of his lips gently curved up into a slight smile. One sleeve of his blue outer kimono has been pushed down to the waist, revealing a blue-gray robe with and intricate flower and vine pattern. He carries a sword, and has a black cherry blossom and stream print kimono draped over his other arm. He wears an interesting hairstyle, with the hair at the front of his forehead caught into a ponytail off to the side, and the rest pulled back into a larger ponytail at back, tied with white cord. A bold design.
