Series; One-to-One Combats at the Great Battle of Kawanakajima
Grappling near the Water's Edge, 1857 - Fantastic scene of two samurai grappling along the edge of the river at the famous Battle of Kawanakajima. One warrior has pinned the other to the ground, attempting to push his face under the water as his struggling victim tries to push away his arm with his left hand while grabbing his attacker's face with his right. Behind them, Takeda Shingen defends himself with a battle fan as Uesugi Kenshin gallops into his enemy's encampment on a black horse in a surprise attack, slashing at him with his sword. A dynamic composition full of energy and wonderfully detailed. A great choice for a samurai enthusiast.
