Daimyo's Procession Arriving at a Castle by Yoshimune (1817 - 1880)

Original Yoshimune (1817 - 1880) Japanese Woodblock Print
Daimyo's Procession Arriving at a Castle

Comments - Intriguing image of a daimyo's procession arriving at a castle perched atop a high mountain. The samurai make their way up the steep steps in the center, carrying banners and standards, while at right, other warriors flee down the opposite side of the slope. A large encampment can be seen along the shore at left, and clouds shaded with purple and pink drift across the scene. A fascinating subject, nicely detailed.

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 28 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few small holes, repaired. Creasing, slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details.
