Comments - Handsome design from an untitled series of kabuki double portraits by Toyokuni III. Each image depicts the actors on vertical panels with strong wood grain, set against solid-color backgrounds in tones of blue, gray, or tan. The expressive figures are beautifully detailed with fine line work in the hair. Some feature deluxe printing treatments such as embossing or burnishing. An interesting and unusual format from a rarely seen series.
